Start with the performance requirement

Identify whether the project is targeting crack control, residual flexural strength, toughness, impact resistance, fatigue performance or a combination of these. A product name alone is not a sufficient specification.

Compare geometry and dimensions

Hooked ends provide mechanical anchorage, corrugated fibers use continuous deformation and straight micro fibers suit dense matrices. Length, diameter and aspect ratio also influence mixing, dispersion and pull-out behavior.

Confirm the concrete system

Aggregate size, mixing equipment, pumping or spraying method, placement sequence and required finish all affect selection. The proposed fiber should be trialed in the actual or representative mix.

Write a complete RFQ

Include fiber type, dimensions, tensile strength, required standard, dosage context, quantity, packaging, destination port and acceptance documents.
